Mary's House

We finished up the Fall semester with a project called Mary's House. Mary's House is a non-profit organization in Greensboro, North Carolina. Mary's House is a shelter for women who have battled with substance abuse and are allowed to bring their children with them to begin a fresh start!  The project was for us to redesign certain rooms in the house. We had 1 week to start and present this project to the director of Mary's House, Craig Thomas. Since we were in a time crunch, we each got a partner to redesign a room. We had a budget of $15,000 per room for all of the furniture and finishes selections. My classmate, Addie and I decided we wanted to tackle the living room. The living room was for the women to interact with each other and their families, a place to watch television, and to relax. We chose 2 sofas covered in Sunbrella fabrics(commercial grade), 2 glider/swivel side chairs, an ottoman with a fun geometric fabric, media table for their movies, DVDs, etc., console table and poufs for some more storage, end tables, window treatments, wall color, ceiling color, lighting, and flooring for this space. Below are are selections for the living room, the floor plan, and some perspectives of what the space would look like! Hope you enjoy as much as we did being apart of this incredible organization.
